Best train route from Paris to the Dordogne then on to Barcelona?

We will be holidaying from Australia in August/September. We would like to catch a train from Paris to the Dordognes but not sure what to do or which stations? We then want to travel to Barcelona preferably by train too. Happy to do a stopover on the coast before crossing border. What train line and route would we take for this journey? Thanks.

Hello Deb,

Thanks for your question.

To start off with, the booking horizon for your travel is 3 months in advance. I would give you a rough travel route but suggest you book closer to your travel date as train schedules may change.

You can also refer to our travel magazine “Connexion” for sample itineraries. This would help you choose destinations on the coast as requested.

Travel as follows:

- Paris to Perigueux via Limoges – Corail Teoz and TER trains. From here you would have to book locally to The Dordogne.

- Perigueux to Montpellier via Bordeaux – TER and Corail Teoz trains. One choice of a coastal city along the French Riviera.

- Montpellier to BarcelonaFrance-Spain High Speed train.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website www.raileurope.com.au .

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then Add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps!!!
