Como to Bergamo, then Verona and Bologna

We plan to travel by train from Paris to Zurich then on to Como and Bergamo, then to Verona via Brescia and on to Bologna. Back to Paris via Turin and Lyon. Staying several nights at each location. Is this a feasible route to take?

Hello Gail,

Thanks for your question.

Book and travel as follows:

- Paris to ZurichTGV Lyria train.

- Zurich to Como – Eurocity train.

- Como to Milan – Other train.

- Milan to Bergamo – Regionale train. (This sector you would have to book locally as it cannot be booked on our website).

- Bergamo to Brescia – Regionale train. (This sector you would have to book locally as it cannot be booked on our website).

- Brescia to Verona - Regionale train. (This sector you would have to book locally as it cannot be booked on our website).

- Verona to BolognaFrecciargento train.

- Bologna to TurinFrecciarossa or Intercity Notte trains.

- Turin to Lyon via Chambery – TGV and TER trains.

Or

- Turin to LyonTGV train.

- Lyon to Paris – TGV train.

As most of your travel is between France and Italy, I would suggest that you purchase a Eurail France-Italy Pass. You could purchase point to point tickets for the Swiss sector of your travel.

This pass would give you extensive travel on all regional and national train carriers with the two countries.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website www.raileurope.com.au.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Anthony, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
