Hi I have 3 questions pertaining to the above.

Firstly I notice eurail regard a child as being 3 - 11 incl: but all of Norway NRN regards a child as 4 - 12 inclusive. Therefore, since I am travelling in Norway only, could I not buy a child eurail pass?

Secondly I realise a eurail pass covers me for any travel on a NRN line - but how do I discover what these are ( or what the exclusions are) PRIOR to buying the pass - for example I gather the Flam - Myrndal line is NOT part of the NRN and I would have to pay extra ( although I would get a discount if I used my eurail pass). I am also not sure how to know which lines require me to book a seat and which ones I can just turn up to.

Thirdly - I assume - but can't see for sure - that if I buy a 3 days pass it can be used on ANY 3 days in a 30 day period? ie the day's DONT' have to be consecutive or alternate?

Lots of questions - but I have spent nearly 3 fruitless hours not being able to find the answer for certain. Mnay thanks

Hello Rowena,

Thanks for your question.

1) According to the Eurail Norway Pass, child pass is considered between the ages of 4 to 11. As a rail pass will still be issued for them, please make sure you include them in your booking. For guaranteed seats on board high speed and night trains, please remember to book a seat for you and your children.

2) The pass would give you extensive travel on all regional and national train services. Seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. You would receive pass holder fares for the Flam – Myrndal Line with the pass.

3) Yes, you got that right. You can travel on any given day you choose. On your first day of travel, you would have to validate the pass and then onward you would just need to check in the box when you would be traveling within 30 days.

To purchase the pass click “Here”.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!
