Seniors option for Swiss Pass

I have been struggling with all the information re the Swiss rail Pass. While we haven't quite finalised our itinerary (mid May this year), I believe the 8 days within one month is likely to be appropriate. I am sure I saw a Seniors option for 1st class but now cant find it. Thank you for your assistance.

Also could you tell me how to get from St Moritz, Lugano via the Bernina Express then to Geneva. I was sure I saw a boat involved somewhere but I cant find that either !

Thanks

Sue

Hello Suzanne,

Thanks for your question.

To start off with, the Swiss Travel Pass would give you extensive travel on all national and regional trains and ferry services.

Be advised that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Border Crossing and Scenic trains but you would avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journey’s.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

Unfortunately, there are no senior discounts.

The Bernina Express would take you from St. Moritz to Tirano and then onward to Lugano by an optional bus service.

From Lugano to get to Geneva, travel and book as follows:

- Lugano to Geneva via Olten – Other trains.

Or

There are boat/ferry service which would be by the Wilhelm Tell Express.

The following is the routing for the Wilhelm Tell Express:

- Lugano to Fluelen - Train journey.

- Fluelen to Lucerne - Boat/Ferry service.

- Lucerne to Geneva - Eurocites train.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website www.raileurope.com.au.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat Reservations“ & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!
