i am planning to travel extensively in end of Aug this year for more than a month and have decided to go for EURAIL GLOBAL PASS after analysing its obvious benefits

As regional trains dont require reservation can I take a regional train to the closest border city for e.g. from Paris to closest border city near Italy, then reserve a ticket as crossing border would be in an international train? I think this will be cheaper on reservation costs due to the short distance as they are worked out on the actual fare, right?

Also, on the map some regional trains (red lines) do not actually connect right upto a certain city or town's name, is this just a technical error? When the regional indicator on your graph does not connect between two places, does it mean there is no train service between them?

Dear Latif,

Thank you for your question.

Despite having a pass reservations are mandatory with additional cost on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Reservation Included - These train will require reservation.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "seat reservation" when using your rail pass & then feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Hope this helps.
