I would dearly love to be able to book our train journeys and reserve our seats whilst in Australia prior to travelling to Spain. We know our itinerary.

We need the following:

Barcelona to Girona - 27 September 2016 (4 travellers)

Girona to Madrid - 2 October 2016 (4 travellers)

Madrid to Barcelona - 6 October 2016 (2 travellers)

Please tell me how to do this?

On Rail Europe's Australian website there is no link to clink on except the Euro Spain Pass and this is not what we need as the Renfe Spain pass is inclusive for 4 train tickets (journeys), our seat reservations and there is NO booking fee with the passes we have purchased.

If we can only reserve our seats once in Spain that is fine. But we need to book the actual train trips prior to travelling to Spain.

We really hope you can help in this matter.

Hello Susan,

Thanks for the question.

We would like to inform you that with the Renfe Spain Pass, you can take 4, 6, 8 or 10 journeys within 1 month. You can choose the number of journeys based on the number of times you are planning to travel.

To purchase Renfe Spain Pass click “Here”.

Kindly note, the price of seat reservations is included in the Renfe Spain Pass. Just remember to retrieve your seat reservation at a local station before boarding a high speed train. Of course no surcharge applies!

As seat reservations are already included in your Renfe Spain Pass, you cannot book seat reservations with the Pass as it is based on first come basis as seat reservations have to be retrieved locally at the departure train station.

Or you can purchase point to point tickets for your travel. You can book and travel as follows:

- Barcelona to Girona – AVE train.

- Girona to Madrid – AVE train.

- Madrid to Barcelona – AVE train.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Leora. I had already purchased 4 Renfe Spain Passes as I was unaware that seats could not be booked on the preferred trains prior to leaving Australia. It would have been much better for me to buy the point to point journeys rather than a pass. Is it too late to cancel the passes (and get a full refund) in order to buy point to point tickets? Failing that can I book all seat reservations for my 4 journeys as soon as I get to Spain?
