travel from paris to cinque terre genoa

In April next year we wish to trave from paris to cinque terre, in a day via the coast. Can you tell us the route and changeover and shortest times. We Plan to buy a Europass Select for Germany Italy and Switzerland So do we buy a point to point ticket for the France leg.

Also we wish to travel Florence, Rome Venice, and Amalfi before travelling on some of the scenic trains through Switzerland and the Rhine Valley back to Paris. Bit confused about the most logical order to travel in.

Hello Denise,

Thanks for your question.

There are no direct trains from Paris to La Spezia (nearest train station to Cinque Terre). Our website would break your journey in Milan as follows:

PARIS GARE LYON to MILANO P GARIBAL – TGV train

MILANO CENTRALE to LA SPEZIA – Regional train

You would have to purchase point to point tickets for your French sectors.

I would suggest the below option, for your travel between Italy – Germany:

Naples to Salerno – Italo / Frecciarossa / Frecciabianca train

Salerno to Amalfi Coast – Regional train. You would have to book locally

Amalfi Coast to Salerno - Regional train. You would have to book locally

Salerno to Rome – direct Italo / Frecciabianca train

Rome to Florence – direct Italo / Frecciarossa train

Florence to Venice – direct Frecciargento train

Venice to Munich via Verona - Frecciabianca and Eurocitybrenner train

Munich to Koblenz via Frankfurt or Manheim – ICE and Regional train

Koblenz to Zurich – direct Eurocity train

Zurich to ParisTGV Lyria train

In order to book tickets, please visit our website http://www.raileurope.com.au

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your prompt and helpful reply, wondering about how many times we would need to change and how long it would take to travel to La Spezia from paris perhaps through Marseille then Cannes Nice and monarco and would we still go to La Spezia or Genoa. Thanks again. Denise Burnicle

Hello Denise,

Thanks for your question.

Paris to La Spezia via Milan is around 12 hours travel.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website http://www.raileurope.com.au

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then Add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps.
