Travelling to Spain and Italy June-July for 6 weeks. Train travel Madrid to Cuenca & return, Madrid to Seville & return and Rome to Sorrento, Sorrento

June 21 Madrid to Cuenca

June 23 Cuenca to Madrid to Seville

June 27 Seville to Madrid

July 11 Rome to Naples to Sorrento

July 16 Sorrento to Naples.

Do you suggest a Eurorail pass and if so, which one? Or individual tickets?

Thankyou

Hello Jenni,

Thanks for your question.

Travel as follows:

- Madrid to Cuenca – AVE or Other trains. (Return to Madrid)

- Madrid to Seville – AVE or Other trains. (Return to Madrid)

- Madrid to Barcelona – Ave train.

- Barcelona to Marseille France-Spain High-Speed train.

- Marseille to Genoa Thello Day train.

- Genoa to Rome Intercity or Frecciabianca trains.

- Rome to NaplesFrecciarossa or Italo trains.

- Naples to Sorrento – This leg of your journey you would have to book and travel locally onward and return.

Italy-Spain Pass would be ideal for your travel. You could purchase point-to-point tickets for your travel through France.

The pass would give you extensive travel on regional and national trains in Spain and Italy. Be advised that seat reservations are mandatory on all High-Speed, Night, Border Crossing and Scenic trains but you would avail pass holder/discounted fares for the same.

Also keep in mind that the booking horizon for your travel sectors are 3 months prior to your date of travel.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website www.raileurope.com.au.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat Reservations“ & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Thankyou Anthony, that information is very helpful.

Would the Spain/Italy pass also cover trains to travel in South Spain from Seville to Cadiz, Malaga, Ronda, Granada, Córdoba? This may be a better option for us than car hire?

Thankyou

Hello Jenni,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you can use the pass for your travel anywhere within Spain. Keep in mind that you would have to validate the pass for the journeys you intend on traveling.

Do keep in mind the days of validity as well, you could book point to point on shorter sectors to save up on validity days.

Hope this helps!!!
